Jerzy Józef Margański (born July 27, 1955 in Tarnobrzeg ) is a Polish diplomat .

Life

Margański studied philosophy at the University of Cracow from 1976 and graduated with a master's degree. He worked as an interpreter and in university teaching. In 1985 he went to Freiburg im Breisgau with his family as a fellow of the community for student exchange in Central and Eastern Europe and studied with Heinrich August Winkler , among others . In 1990 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on the philosophy of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel .

From 1990 Margański worked in the Polish diplomatic mission in Bonn and was deployed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw . From 1997 to 1999 he headed the Polish embassy in Berlin . From 2001 to 2005 he was the Polish ambassador to Switzerland , after which he worked in the European department of the Foreign Ministry in Warsaw. From July 2008 to 2013 he was the Polish ambassador to Austria .

From February 2013 to 2016 Margański was the Polish ambassador to Germany .
