Jiří Pavlenka (born April 14, 1992 in Hlučín , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech soccer goalkeeper who has been playing for Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga since the 2017/18 season .

Career

In 2011 Pavlenka started his professional career with the Czech first division club Baník Ostrava . After relegation in the 2015/16 season , he moved to league competitor Slavia Prague , with whom he won the championship the following season.

On June 27, 2017, both clubs confirmed a move from Slavia Prague to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. In his first season with Bremen, he played all league games, with his constancy being highlighted in the press. In the DFB Cup eighth final of the 2018/19 season, Pavlenka held the first two penalties in the penalty shoot-out against Borussia Dortmund and thus contributed significantly to the progress of his team. After the game, he was voted Man of the Match .
