James "Jimmy" Sharrow (born January 31, 1985 in Framingham , Massachusetts ) is an American ice hockey player on the defensive position, who was last active with the Heilbronner Falken in the DEL2 . Before that he played eight years in the German ice hockey league for the Eisbären Berlin and the Grizzlys Wolfsburg .

Career

Jim Sharrow began his career as a hockey player in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program , for which he was active in the North American Junior League North American Hockey League in the 2001/02 season . He then spent three years with the Halifax Mooseheads in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . During this period he was selected in the fourth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as the 110th player of the Atlanta Thrashers , for whom he never played. Instead, he ran from 2005 to 2007 for their farm team Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League , where he was parallel in the 2005/06 season in 23 games for the Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL on the ice.

In the 2007/08 season Sharrow was drafted for Jesse Schultz from Atlanta to the Vancouver Canucks and played the Manitoba Moose for their AHL team . In the following season he was then committed to the new AHL team of the Chicago Blackhawks , the Rockford IceHogs . The 2009/10 season he played mainly in the ECHL , here in particular again for the then farm team of the Canucks in this league, the Victoria Salmon Kings .

After the departure of Andy Roach and Marvin Degon in their back line, the Eisbären Berlin from the German Ice Hockey League signed the defender for the 2010/11 season . In preparation, he first took part with his new team in the European Trophy , which he won with Berlin. He himself showed no difficulties in adapting to the larger ice surface in Europe and was named the best defender of the tournament due to five goals and assists in his eleven appearances. He was also able to convince in the DEL and became a leading player in the Eisbären.

After five years with the Eisbären Berlin, in which he won three German championships with the club, his contract was not renewed after the 2014/15 season, which was disappointing for the Eisbären . In June 2015 Sharrow was signed by the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg and received a one-year contract for the 2015/16 season . This was extended by two years in April 2016, especially due to his good performance in the playoffs, in which he reached the finals with the Grizzlys.

In November 2018 he was signed by the Heilbronner Falken until the end of the 2018/19 DEL2 season .
