Jirō Akagawa

Jirō Akagawa ( Japanese 赤 川 次郎 , Akagawa Jirō ; born February 29, 1948 in Fukuoka , Fukuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese writer . He is best known for his humorous detective and horror stories . In 1976, the year he devoted himself to professional writing, he made his debut Ghost Train , with which he won the prestigious All Yomimono New Mystery Writers Prize.

Akigawa is extremely productive, having written more than 480 short stories and sold more than 300 million individual editions. His works have found their way into pop culture as templates for animes , video games , television programs or films . One of his most famous series is that of the cat detective Mikeneko Hōmuzu ( 三毛 猫 ホ ー ム ズ ).
