Jo Brauner

Joachim "Jo" Brauner (born November 29, 1937 in Nimptsch , Lower Silesia ) is a former German news anchor for ARD - Tagesschau . On October 9, 1974, he first read an edition of the Tagesschau (10 o'clock edition), on April 30, 1975 for the first time the main edition at 8 p.m. and on October 9, 2004 for the last time the news of the Tagesschau.

Life

During the Second World War , Jo Brauner was brought with his mother and three siblings from Breslau to Saalfeld / Saale in Thuringia in January 1945 . In 1958 he passed the state examination as a primary school teacher for German in the GDR at the Pedagogical Institute in Leipzig . In August of the same year he fled the GDR via West Berlin to the Federal Republic of Germany . In the following time he worked in Hamburg, among other things, in a graphic arts establishment, and later as a commercial clerk in an insurance company.

In 1964 Brauner applied to the NDR . He took speaking lessons and read his first news on NDR 2 on May 15, 1965. At Herbert Zimmermann's invitation , he spoke the sports news on NDR 1 and NDR 2 in July 1965. After only speaking on Sundays, Brauner gave in October 1965 his job at the insurance company and worked full-time as a speaker in the radio departments of the NDR.

In 1967 he also took up a position as a spokesman for the reports of the day . In 1974, at the invitation of Karl-Heinz Köpcke, he also became the on and off spokesman for the Tagesschau . On January 1, 2000, Brauner succeeded Dagmar Berghoff as chief spokesman for ARD-aktuell . In an interview with the FAS , however, he noted: "To discover mistakes is the only right that the speakers have towards the editors." On October 9, 2004 Brauner read the news of the Tagesschau for the last time and thus ended his activity after 30 years for the news broadcast. As part of the ARD theme week 2008, he spoke again on April 21, 2008 in the ARD morning magazine the half-hourly news of the Tagesschau .

As football - fan Brauner has long announcer at HSV and also in the annually held International Tennis Championships for men and women at Hamburg Rothenbaum . He gave up his job as a stadium announcer at HSV because he did not want to support a format that was increasingly focused on show elements.

Brauner is a newscaster for the health format vigo TV of the AOK . Since November 2009 he has been the sponsor of the Bethel children's hospice for dying children.

On the night of December 21, 2012, Brauner and Florian Schroeder presented the pilot episode of the new satire show on the First German Television, Das Ernste .

Brauner has been married since 1969 and has two daughters. He loves literature as well as piano and violin concerts, he plays the piano himself.
