Joan Van Ark
Joan Van Ark (born June 16, 1943 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress . Van Ark is primarily cast as a character actress and was best known for the series Under the California Sun.
Life
The daughter of a couple of writers, whose family immigrated from Holland to the USA, began her career as an actress in the theater . In 1971 she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in a play for her role in Molière's The School of Women . In 1978 she switched from theater to television and took on the lead role of Valene "Val" Clements Ewing in the series Unter der Sonne Kaliforniens , an offshoot of the successful soap opera Dallas , in which she already played the same role. In addition to various films, she was also seen in several episodes of the series Quincy and Love Boat . Joan Van Ark has been married since 1966 and has one daughter.
Joan Van Ark had several guest roles on the television series Bonanza (episode Miss Laurie in 1968), The Nanny , Cybill , A Breath of Heaven and My Name Is Earl .
