Joannès-Seyve 23-416

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joannès-Seyve 23-416 is a white wine variety . It is an interspecific new breeding between varieties Bertille-Seyve 4825 and Seibel 7073. The crossing of the hybrid vine took place by the French Joannès Seyve from the breeder family Seyve Villard whose farms are in Bougé-Chambalud in the Isère was. The exact date of the crossing is unknown. However, following a habit of the breeder, the spread of the variety took place much later. Joannès Seyve did not leave any records of the crossing, so that the parentage cannot be determined with certainty. Due to the influence of the parents, the grape variety has the genes of the wild grapes Vitis vinifera , Vitis riparia , Vitis rupestris , Vitis aestivalis , Vitis cinerea and Vitis lincecumii .

Since the variety no longer plays a role in the home country of France, only smaller stocks are known in Canada.

The grape variety was used to develop the new Prior and Traminette varieties .
