The Johann-Friedrich-Pierer-Schule Altenburg is a vocational school in the Altenburger Land district . It is named after Johann Friedrich Pierer .

location

The vocational school is located in Altenburg 's north district on Siegfried-Flack-Straße. The school buildings themselves are in the second series along Siegfried-Flack-Straße.

architecture

The school consists of three parts of the building. As a connection between houses 1 and 3, today's house 2 was rebuilt between 2000 and 2002.

history

The vocational school was created in 1991 by merging several vocational schools in different locations in the Altenburger Land district . These were located in Altenburg itself as well as in Meuselwitz and Schmölln . The school was founded as the “State Vocational School for Industry and Technology”.

Historically , the paper industry is very strongly represented in the Altenburger Land district . Vocational training and advanced training for the paper industry has been carried out in Altenburg since 1905. The continuation of this traditional training is granted at the Johann Friedrich Pierer School.

In 2000 the vocational school was given the honorary name " Johann Friedrich Pierer ". The award of the honorary name represents an appreciation of the life and work of JF Pierer in the city of Altenburg .

Until the summer of 2010, some of the training opportunities were in the town of Schmölln. The Schmölln location was closed for cost reasons and all training courses have since taken place at the Altenburg location.
