Johann Friedrich Weyhing

Johann Friedrich Weyhing (born August 1, 1716 in Stuttgart ; † July 17, 1781 in Karlsruhe ) was a German architect .

Life

Johann Friedrich Weyhing was born in Stuttgart in 1716 as the son of the stonemason and master builder Christoph Friedrich Weyhing. His father was involved in the construction of the New Palace in Stuttgart, among other things . After training in architecture, Weyhing was a student of Gaetano Chiaveri in Dresden from 1738 to 1741 while building the Catholic Court Church .

Weyhing can be traced back to the construction of the Stuttgart Palace from 1747. In 1751 he became a building inspector in Württemberg . In 1758 he became ducal valet and castle steward in Ludwigsburg (until 1766). He was in charge of the new construction and renovation of the Grafeneck hunting lodge near Gomadingen and the small opera house there (not preserved). From 1763 to 1767 he worked with Philippe de La Guêpière at Solitude Palace .

In 1767 he entered the service of the House of Baden-Durlach , where, after various positions, he succeeded Friedrich Arnold as master builder . Until 1775 he worked on the interior design of the Karlsruhe Residenzschloss .
