Johann Georg Ehrlich

Johann Georg Ehrlich (born October 13, 1676 in Hennersdorf near Frauenstein ; † February 8, 1743 in Dresden ) was a Dresden merchant , councilor and founder of the Ehrlich Foundation named after him .

Ehrlich acquired his fortune as a tenant of the Ratskeller, the Breihahnhaus in the Breiten Gasse, the wheat beer house and the Ratswaage. He also ran an iron shop. Ehrlich was an elder of the Dresden Chamber Guild and from 1740 also a Dresden councilor.

In the years between 1727 and 1749 Ehrlich and his son Johann Gotthold united the three historic vineyards Schild , Sandleithe and Wehlsberg on the Kötzschenbrodaer Weinbergsflur in the Lößnitz to form the Ehrlich vineyard property, which later became Neufriedstein , located in today's Radebeul district of Niederlößnitz .

In 1743 he established a poor and school foundation with a large part of his property.

Ehrlich lived at Töpferstrasse 1 from 1715 until his death. He was buried in the Johanniskirchhof .
