Johann Ludwig von Bernuth

Johann Ludwig ( Louis ) von Bernuth (born February 28, 1770 in Kleve , † November 18, 1857 in Berlin ) was a Prussian civil servant.

Life

Johann Ludwig was a son of the War and Domain Council Jakob von Bernuth (1729-1797) and his wife Clara Gerstmann (1747-1818), a subsidiary of the practitioner Barthold Florian Gerstmann. His siblings were:

After his father's transfer, Johann Ludwig von Bernuth attended the royal grammar school in Hamm and began a two-year law degree with his older brother Wilhelm at the University of Duisburg in April 1787 . In 1789 he went to the University of Jena for another year , where he devoted himself to the camera and finance subjects, after which he prepared for a year and a half under the guidance of his father for camera work.

After the first state examination , he began on May 8, 1792 as a trainee lawyer at the War and Domain Chamber in Hamm at the Justice Deputation there. At the end of 1793 he moved to Poznan together with Chief President Julius Ernst von Buggenhagen , where he was active in the High Presidium and at the same time in the Poznan War and Domain Chamber. After the transfer of Buggenhagens, who was appointed Minister of State to the General Finance and War College in Berlin , he followed him to Berlin, where he prepared for the Grand Exam. In December 1794 he asked to be admitted to the exam and in August 1795 both brothers asked for the exam to be accelerated. Johann Ludwig von Bernuth had already been assured by Minister Karl August von Hardenberg and thanks to the support of Vice-President Konrad Heinrich Ernst Friedrich von Dörnberg (1769–1828) that he would come to Ansbach as a chamber assessor with a good exam result . On August 8, 1797 he completed the Rigorosum together with his brother Wilhelm and on December 19, 1797 was appointed War and Domain Councilor and Chamber Legal Counsel in Ansbach. At the request of his mother, who asked for support, he was transferred to Hamm in early 1804 as a war and domain councilor. In 1808 he was promoted to provincial director in the Ruhr department and in 1816 appointed finance councilor in 1818 regional finance councilor in Berlin.

He was married to Wilhelmine (1778-1827), a daughter of Count Philipp August von Platen Hallermund (1748-1831), head forester in Ansbach, her brother was the poet August von Platen-Hallermünde . They had a son together:
