Johann Michael Söckler (born November 9, 1744 in Augsburg , † April 7, 1781 in Munich ) was a German engraver whose place of work was Munich all his life.

Johann Michael Söckler received his training from the Munich copper engraver Franz Xaver Jungwirth (1720–1790). After completing her and worked for a time at Jungwirth (as partners likely), he made his 1764 self . In 1767 he received the citizenship of Munich and had thus finally established himself in the Bavarian capital as a "city copper engraver".

Mainly Johann Michael Söckler has in his creative life probably works by contemporary authors illustrated and with Buchschmuck provided. These included books with titles such as Instructions for the Art of German Language, for Convenient Use and, in brief, by Heinrich Braun (1732–1792), State question: Are the goods and income of the clergy harmful to the state or not? by Anselm Desing (1699–1772) or Historical and Critical News from the Life of Herr von Voltaire and Other New Philosophers of Our Times by Johann Christoph von Zabuesnig (1747–1827).

Johann Michael Söckler's good reputation as a copperplate engraver also extended beyond Munich. So he was entrusted with the engraving of the topographic map of Mannheim and the surrounding area, which the Palatinate cartographer Ferdinand Denis (1736–1805) had designed. This important cartographic work was completed by Johann Michael Söckler in 1780, one year before his untimely death.
