Johann Radinger , Edler von Radinger since 1892 (born July 31, 1842 in Vienna ; † November 20, 1901 there ) was an Austrian mechanical engineer .

Life

Johann Friedrich Radinger studied at the mechanical engineering school of the Polytechnic Institute (today: Technical University ) in Vienna until 1863 . He was an employee ( adjunct ) at the Polytechnic Institute (from 1867), associate professor (from 1875), full professor of mechanical engineering (from 1879), dean (1881–1885) and rector (1891–1892). Radinger invented the Radinger method of calculating the flywheel and thus enabled the construction of more effective engines . He worked as a planner, designer and appraiser for many industrial plants in Austria-Hungary , including rolling mills , steam mills , spinning mills , weaving mills , sawmills , brickworks , metal goods factories, petroleum factories and chemical plants . In 1892 he was the site manager responsible for the state printing works and the main mint.

Honors

Johann Radinger was given a grave of honor in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 14 A, No. 47), the gravestone of which is decorated with a relief by Rudolf Weyr . In 1905, Radingerstraße in Vienna- Leopoldstadt (2nd district) was named after him.
