Johannes Chrząszcz

Johannes Peter Chrząszcz (born April 27, 1857 in Polish Müllmen near Oberglogau , † February 26, 1928 in Peiskretscham ) was an Upper Silesian priest who became known as a Silesian homeland researcher.

Life

On April 27, 1857 Johannes Chrząszcz was born in Polish Müllmen and baptized in the parish church in German Müllmen . He attended elementary school in Deutsch-Müllmen and grammar schools in Leobschütz , Breslau and Opole . After he was ordained a priest in Prague , he first became chaplain of the palace in Chrosczinna near Dambrau . Later he worked in Ruda . In 1883 he became a high school and religion teacher in Gliwice . In 1888 he received his doctorate in theology from the University of Breslau . On November 15, 1890 he took over the parish Peiskretscham. There he died on February 26, 1928 as a clergyman and archpriest.

In addition to his pastoral work, he wrote numerous theological and local history books and articles. Until 1920 he was editor of the magazine Oberschlesische Heimat - magazine of the Oberschlesischen Geschichtsverein .
