John David Bevan (born March 12, 1948 in Neath , Neath Port Talbot , † June 5, 1986 in Port Talbot , Neath Port Talbot) was a Welsh rugby union player and coach. He played as a connector .

Bevan played for the Aberavon RFC and made his national team debut against France in 1975 . In the same year he played three more times for Wales, the last against Australia in December . In 1977 he was taken on the tour of the British and Irish Lions to New Zealand , although he was no longer used in the Welsh national team. For the Lions, he played twelve games against regional selections in the run-up to the series against the All Blacks .

1982 Bevan took over the office of national coach of the Welsh. Due to health problems, he had to resign in November 1985, and a few months later he died of cancer.
