John Weathers (1974)

John Weathers (born February 7, 1947 in Carmarthen , Carmarthenshire , West Wales ) is a British musician. From 1972 to 1980 he was a member of the band Gentle Giant .

Life

He plays drums , drums , vibraphone , xylophone , guitar and sings . From the album Octopus , Weathers was a drummer with Gentle Giant and popular with fans for his energetic style.

John's father is from Liverpool and his mother from Wales. The family moved from Carmarthen to Swansea . As a teenager he began to play drums at irregular intervals. At the age of 15 he ran away from home to his aunt in Liverpool because the family tensions between him and his parents had become too great. At night he played swing in bars , and during the day he hired himself as a baker's boy. When he returned to Wales two years later, he became a member of the band Eyes of Blue . Eyes of Blue won a local music award that John's mother still holds today.

From 1983 he played in the rock band Man . He toured Wales in a pantomime theater company. He has also worked as a drummer for various television programs and appears on some recordings of Welsh bands.

On the single Flying Hero Sandwich / My last band by Pete Brown & Piblokoto , John Weathers played drums. He also appears on an LP from Neutrons called Black Hole Star . He also played on Bluebell Wood of Big Sleep .

In 2001 he had to give up playing drums because he suffered from osteoarthritis of the foot. Today John lives as an ornithologist in Wales.
