Jonne Valtonen (born March 23, 1976 in Turku ) is a Finnish composer of film and computer game music and arranger of game music. In the tracker and demo scene, it works under the name Purple Motion .

Life

Valtonen grew up with a brother in Kaarina , Finland. From the age of eight he received piano lessons. He completed his composition studies at the Piranha Polytechnic University of applied science, which he graduated in 2009. He was u. a. Taught by Hannu Pohjannoro, Oliver Kohlenberg, Magnus Lindberg , Jukka Tiensuu , Kirmo Lintinen, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Michael Nyman .

From 1996 he wrote music for Finnish game developers, a. a. for Remedy Entertainment , Housemarque and Bugbear Entertainment. Since 2005 he has been arranging and orchestrating the music for symphonic concerts with video game music, which have been performed with great success in European and Asian concert halls. Since 2008 he has been the musical director of Merregnon Studios for all live performances of the concerts arranged by Merregnon.

Prizes and awards

In 2014 the London Symphony Orchestra won the Annual Game Music Award for its interpretation of the Final Symphony VI, VII, X by Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu . The arrangers of the piece are Jonne Valtonen and Roger Wanamo.

In 2017 he received the Game Audio Award for Albion Online . In 2019 he is a member of the jury.
