The Jordanian Dinar or Jordanian Dinar ( Arabic دينار, DMG dīnār ) is the currency of Jordan and also of the Palestinian autonomous areas in the West Bank. A dinar is divided into 100 piastres (Arabic term qirsch ).

There are coins to the value of 1 piaster, 5 piastres, 10 piastres, ¼ dinars and ½ dinars in circulation. The ½ dinar coin is a bimetal coin . Banknotes are available in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 dinars.

Originally the dinar was divided into 10 dirhams or 1000 fils . In 1992 the dirham and fils were replaced by the hundredths of piastres. Coins of the old divisions are now hardly to be found in circulation. Before the introduction of the piaster, the following coins existed: 5 fils, 10 fils, 25 fils, 50 fils, 100 fils, ¼ dinar, ½ dinar and 1 dinar.

Shortly after the introduction of the piasters, coins to the value of ½ qirsh, 2½ piastres, ½ dinars (monometal) were minted.

The Jordanian dinar has been pegged to the US dollar since 1995 , but the fixed exchange rate varies from 1 USD = 0.708 JOD to 1 USD = 0.7095 JOD.
