Josef Menke (politician)

Josef Menke (born May 10, 1899 at Gut Teichhof near Kassel , † May 6, 1975 in Bad Driburg ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

Menke, who was a Roman Catholic , attended grammar school and agricultural college until 1917 . He then completed an agricultural apprenticeship until 1920, interrupted by a year in the war. From 1920 to 1923 he studied agriculture in Halle (Saale) , Hohenheim and Göttingen and acquired the agricultural diploma and the license to breed director. From 1924 he was an agricultural estate official until he leased the Charlottenhof near Gehrden in the Warburg district in 1931 . His son Karl Heinz Menke is a professor emeritus for animal nutrition at the University of Hohenheim .

Political party

Menke joined the CDU in 1946.

MP

Menke was a member of the district council in the Warburg district from 1948 to 1953. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1965. He represented the constituency of Warburg-Höxter-Büren in parliament.

Public offices

1951/52 Menke was district administrator of the Warburg district.
