Josef Siben (born March 18, 1864 in Deidesheim ; † September 23, 1941 ibid) was a Bavarian politician.

Live and act

Josef Siben was the son of the Deidesheim winery owner and mayor Georg Siben and his wife Apollonia nee. Moßbacher from Forst an der Weinstrasse . He had six siblings, his brother Johann Julius Siben was also a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies.

After attending the humanistic grammar school, Josef Siben studied law. He held a seat in the Chamber of Deputies of the Kingdom of Bavaria in the 20th electoral term from 1907 to 1912 and in the 21st electoral term from 1912 to 1918 . In both election periods Siben ran in the constituency of Annweiler .

After the end of the First World War , Siben also had a mandate in the first Landtag of the Free State of Bavaria from 1919 to 1920 ; this time it was in the district of Neustadt an der Haardt (today Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ), Frankenthal , Kirchheimbolanden and Rockenhausen .

He first belonged to the center , from 1919 to the Bavarian People's Party (BVP) .

Pope Pius X awarded him the Cross of Honor Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice in 1909 .

In addition to his political activities, Siben ran a winery in Deidesheim.
