Joseph Ngute

Joseph Dion Ngute (born March 12, 1954 ) is a Cameroonian politician who is the 9th Prime Minister of Cameroon after his appointment in January 2019 . He succeeded Philémon Yang , who had held the office since 2009. Ngute is a member of the Rassemblement démocratique du Peuple Camerounais (RDPC).

Career

Ngute holds a PhD in law from the University of Warwick , UK . In 1991 he was the director of the Advanced School of Administration and Magistracy. In 1997 he entered the government and served as a delegate to the Minister for External Relations. In March 2018 he was appointed Minister for Special Tasks for the Presidency of the Republic.

Others

Ngute is from the English-speaking southwest of Cameroon and is a local tribal leader. His nomination is seen in response to the unrest in the English-speaking regions of the country.
