Joslyn Barnes

Joslyn Barns is a film producer , screenwriter, and director. She has received numerous awards for her work. For example, in 2018 she was nominated for an Oscar together with Yance Ford in the “Best Documentary” category. A second Academy Award nomination followed in 2019 for Hale County's This Morning, This Evening .

Life

Barnes served as an employee and advisor to the United Nations . During this time she traveled to Africa and Asia and lived on these continents. Meanwhile, she published several articles on trade, development, and social issues. The main areas of activity at the UN were food security, equality and human rights .

After this job she founded the production company Louverture Films together with actor Danny Glover . Barnes example, produced the award-winning Independent - Documentary Hale County This Morning, This Evening on the life of African-American people in Hale County , Alabama .
