Journey Into Medicine is a 1947 American documentary directed by Willard Van Dyke .

The film documents the medical student Mike's studies at Columbia University , starting with his first lectures on his training at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital teaching hospital , where he is introduced to methods that help children with a serious illness live longer, but also how to deal with treatment failures. Social and environmental factors related to disease are also addressed. Early in his career he moved to the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore , where he was confronted with an outbreak of diphtheria in the poverty-stricken row houses of East Baltimore. Mike decides to study epidemiology in addition to pediatrics . His first job as a young doctor should begin at Johns Hopkins Hospital, if possible.
