Journey for Survival is an American documentary - short film by Dick Young from the year 1981st

The film is about the struggle for survival in countries with no access to drinking water . It shows the search for water in countries such as Ethiopia , Yemen , Peru , India , Bangladesh and the Philippines . As a way out of this misery, efforts of the United Nations are shown, in which water pipelines , wells and pumps are built with local commitment . Also shown are dangers of polluted water, such as dysentery , typhus and gastroenteritis . Here, too, the United Nations is trying to remedy the situation. They declared the years 1981 to 1990 the "United Nations International Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Decade".

The film was at the Oscar ceremony in 1982 as Best Short Documentary nominated.
