Julia Marino (born September 11, 1997 in Westport ) is an American snowboarder . She starts in the freestyle disciplines .

Career

Marino has been participating in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour since 2011 . She achieved her first podium finishes in the 2010/11 season with second place in slopestyle at the New Hampshire Series at Loon Mountain and first place in slopestyle at the Southern Vermont Series in Okemo . In March 2013, she won third place in slopestyle at the US Revolution Tour in Sun Valley and at the national championships in Copper Mountain . In the 2013/14 season he was sixth in slopestyle at the Burton High Fives in Cardrona and fourth in slopestyle at the Burton European Open in Laax and the US Revolution Tour in Mammoth . She finished the season in 19th place in the World Snowboard Tour Slopestyle ranking and in sixth place in the World Snowboard Tour overall ranking.

At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships on Kreischberg , she took 19th place in slopestyle. In February 2015, she took second place in the slopestyle and first place in the big air competition on the US Revolution Tour in Mammoth . In the same month, she completed her first World Cup race in Park City . She came in 13th place in slopestyle. In the 2015/16 season she won the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and FIS World Cup in Boston in Big Air and came seventh in Big Air at the World Cup and Jamboree in Québec . In March 2016 she won the slopestyle at the US Revolution Tour in Winter Park and won the bronze medal in the slopestyle at the 2016 Snowboard World Championships in Yabuli . She also finished fifth in the Big Air competition. At the end of the season she finished 13th in the Freestyle World Cup and first place in the Big Air World Cup.

In the following season 2017 she came in nine World Cup appearances, six times in the top ten. She won third place in slopestyle in Mammoth , second place in big air in Alpensia and Québec , and won the slopestyle in Québec. She finished third in the Big Air World Cup and in the Freestyle World Cup and second in the Slopestyle World Cup. At the Winter X Games 2017 in Aspen , she won the bronze medal in Big Air and the gold medal in Slopestyle. In March 2017 she won the bronze medal in the Slopestyle and the silver medal in the Big Air at the X-Games Norway in Hafjell . In the 2017/18 season she won second place in the World Cup in Copper Mountain and first place in the Big Air in Québec Big Air and thus achieved seventh place in the Freestyle World Cup and third place in the Big Air World Cup. She also finished second in slopestyle at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth, third in slopestyle at the Burton US Open in Vail and first in big air at the World Ski & Snowboard Festival in Whistler . In January 2018 she won the silver medal in Slopestyle at the Winter X Games in Aspen. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang in Big Air, which was held for the first time as part of the Olympic snowboard competitions, she reached 11th place in slopestyle and on February 22nd, behind Anna Gasser, tenth place. In May 2018 she won the silver medal in Big Air at the X-Games Norway in Fornebu .

In the 2018/19 season, Marino won the World Cup in Québec in Big Air and in Slopestyle at the Total Fight in Grandvalira . She also finished second in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge , the Burton US Open and Big Air at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler . At the Winter X Games 2019 she came eighth in slopestyle and 19th place in slopestyle at the 2019 Snowboard World Championships in Park City . At the end of August 2019, she won the bronze medal in Big Air at the X-Games Norway .
