Julian Maas
Julian Maas (born March 9, 1975 in Hamburg ) is a German musician and film composer .
Life
Julian Maas was a member of " Rolf and his friends " as a child and sang in the song in 1982 ... and very much me this line of text. With this song he performed together with Rolf and his friends in 1982 at Wetten, dass ...? and in the ZDF hit parade. His trademark at the time was wire-rimmed glasses. In 1993, as a young adult, he recorded the Christmas album “December dreams” with Rolf Zuckowski. In the following years he accompanied him in his band on the piano (appearance in 2000 at the ShowPalast with “Kinder wird Grot”).
From 1994 to 1999 he studied piano at the Brussels Conservatory . In 1999 he returned to Hamburg and worked here as a live and studio musician. Since 2002 he has been working closely with the composer and producer Christoph M. Kaiser . Together they composed the music for cinema, television and advertising films. For their music for the movie The Coming Days they won the 2010 German Film Critics' Prize in the “Best Music” category. In 2015 you were awarded the Günter Rohrbach Film Prize for your music for the film Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer .
Julian Maas was one of the authors of the winning song Rise Like a Phoenix of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, sung by Conchita Wurst .
In 2018, both of them received the European Film Prize in the Best Film Music category and the German Film Prize for the film music for 3 days in Quiberon , after they had already received a nomination for Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer in 2016 .
