Julius Stief (born December 24, 1827 in Grönenbach , † May 16, 1896 in Nuremberg ) was a German publisher and politician.

Stief first studied pharmacy . In 1856 he took a job as an accountant in the art institute and copper engraving school of Carl Mayer in Nuremberg. There he received citizenship and a license to operate a book and art trade with publishing rights.

From 1869 Stief belonged to the municipal college of the city ​​of Nuremberg and was later also its first director. From 1875 to 1879 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies for the Bavarian Progressive Party in the Nuremberg constituency . For business reasons he asked on October 12, 1879 to give up his mandate, which was granted on October 16, 1879.

In 1889 he was awarded the title of Commerce Councilor and in 1894 was made an honorary citizen of the city of Nuremberg .
