Three -axle locomotives from the Jung Lokomotivfabrik were designated as the Jung R 30 C series , eleven of which were produced between 1956 and 1962 and used in medium-sized shunting and light freight train services.

The type series was developed together with the Jung R 30 B and is its three-axle version for lower axle loads. The two versions are Jung's top-selling types of locomotives for private companies. Some locomotives in the series have been preserved.

history

Together with the Jung R 30 B , a three-axle type was created in the same configuration for routes with less resilient superstructure. Except for the arrangement of the power transmission and the axle group, this type was similar to the two-axle young locomotive.

Of the eleven produced copies, four different variants with different dimensions and machinery were implemented at the customer's request. By 1962 the following were delivered:

technology

The locomotive has a front end for the machinery and a driver's cab behind it. The front end is beveled to improve the view of the route for the train driver. Most of the locomotives have smooth surfaces on the stems and rounded corners, which simplifies production.

The machine systems were different, where four different motors with different outputs were offered according to customer requirements. In order to influence the friction weight, ballast weights of 2.2 to 5.4 tons were added to the vehicles. A six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from MAN was used for the diesel engine , and the Voith variant for the fluid transmission .

The main difference between the power transmission and the two-axle variant was the arrangement of the fluid transmission under the cab floor. An optional stage transmission with track and shunting and the reversing gear which lies outside the axis group was jackshaft driven, the drive axes on driving and coupling rods. The maximum speed of the locomotive was given as 60 km / h.

commitment

As of 2020, half of all machines manufactured are still available.

Birkenfeld Railway

The locomotive was delivered to the Birkenfeld Railway in 1956 and provided shunting and mainline service here. In 1992 it was taken over by the Hochwaldbahn . The locomotive is run as a museum locomotive and is based at the Krefeld depot , but the last database entry dates from 2013.

Merzig-Büschfeld Railway

In 1959 two locomotives were delivered to the Merzig-Büschfeld Railway , which were named MBE 51 and 52. In 1965, a machine that had been built in advance was rented, which was sold to a private customer in Switzerland in 1969 . The first two locomotives are still there.

The 51 was handed over to the Museums-Eisenbahn-Club Losheim in 1989 and bears the number 98 80 3941 003-6 D-MEL in the German vehicle registration register . The locomotive is ready for operation. The 52 was taken over as a spare parts donor.

Lollandsbanen LJ M 12 / Regionstog RTOG M 12

In 1957 the Lollandsbane acquired the locomotive with the construction number 12745. In the list of motor locomotives of this company it received the next free number 12 . It has an engine with 225 hp, a service weight of 36 t, a total length over buffers of 8.37 m and a center distance of 1.5 m + 1.5 m. In 1979 it was overhauled and given a design paint.

As part of the merger of Vestsjællands Lokalbaner A / S, Lollandsbanen A / S and Østbanen to Regionstog , all vehicles, including the LM 12 , from the predecessor companies were transferred to Regionstog. The company name changed from LM to RTOG . In 2012 the locomotive was donated to the Dansk Jernbane Klub for the Maribo – Bandholm museum railway on the 50th anniversary. It will be turned off in 2020.
