According to the Ordinance on Nature Conservation and Heritage Protection of the Canton of Solothurn in Switzerland, the Jura Protection Zone consists of the Solothurn parts of the Jura Mountains (Solothurn Jura) in the narrower sense, the Engelberg and Born areas near Olten and the Bucheggberg , which are included as "Areas of particular beauty and character" are designated.

The Jura protection zone was created in 1942 by a resolution of the government council to «protect the Jura from being built up with disfiguring buildings» and was thus «one of the first spatial planning measures in Switzerland». The areas in the zone have since been protected from urban sprawl .

The ordinance stipulates, among other things, that buildings in the Jura protection zone "should blend in well with their surroundings and not impair the appearance of the village or landscape".

The Thal Regional Nature Park is located in the Jura protection zone.
