Justin Michael Mentell (born December 16, 1982 in Austin , Texas , † February 1, 2010 near Blanchardville near Madison , Wisconsin ) was an American actor .

Life

Mentell was born on December 16, 1982 in Austin, Texas, where he took part in several theater productions as a child. After his family moved to Waukegan , Illinois , he became a member of the Children's Company at the Northbrook Theater . In addition, he dedicated himself to speed skating , achieved third place in the Junior Olympics and was appointed to the long-distance junior squad of the US national team.

During his time at Waukegan High School , Mentell lived for a year as an exchange student in Germany and was supported by Rotary International . In 2001 he began studying acting at Northern Illinois University (NIU), from which he graduated in May 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts . Through the agency of NIU's School of Theater and Dance , Mentell completed a summer course at the Chekhov Art Theater in Moscow .

In 2005 he won a Golden Reel Award for Best Actor for his performance in the short film At the Still Point . In July 2009, Mentell gave up acting to devote himself to the fine arts .

Mentell last lived in Los Angeles . He died in a traffic accident on February 1, 2010 near Blanchardville , Iowa County , Wisconsin .
