Jytte Hilden (2005)

Jytte Hilden (born September 12, 1942 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish social democratic politician .

Hilden became a local representative in Karlebo in 1978 and was a member of the Danish Parliament from 1979 to 1981 and again from 1984 to 1998. From 1993 to 1996 she was Minister of Culture in Poul Nyrup Rasmussen's cabinet , and then until 1998 Minister of Research . In 1998 she lost her parliamentary seat, resigned as a minister and ended her political career.

As the contentious minister of culture, she was responsible for the spectacular new building of the Royal Library in Copenhagen: Den Sorte Diamant . The title as "black diamond" goes back to Hilden. In 1999 she became the first cultural director of this house. After her retirement in 2003, she stayed with the library as a consultant and participated in the edition of Andersen's fairy tales in Arabic , Persian , Urdu , Somali etc. with the aim of introducing immigrants to the Danish storytelling tradition.

Hilden has four children and was married to the social democratic politician Mogens Lykketoft from 1987 to 2004 .
