Köln.tv was a private television broadcaster for the Cologne - Bonn - Leverkusen regions with full programming that began regular broadcasting on January 5, 2015 at 6 p.m. In February 2016 it was announced that broadcasting would be discontinued on March 31, 2016 due to a lack of economic prospects.

Group affiliation

The station's predecessor, center.tv Köln , was founded by Andre Zalbertus in October 2005 and ceased broadcasting on December 31, 2014. The new partner of the station, the Cologne media group M. DuMont Schauberg , took over the company shares in April 2012 and relocated the studio to the newsroom of its own headquarters in Cologne-Niehl , Amsterdamer Straße 192, in order to have short distances to colleagues in Cologne city - Benefit indicator as well as the express . DuMont - predominantly a print media group - already held a majority stake in the private radio station Radio Köln .

The managing director was Johannes Müller, the editor-in-chief was the journalist Brian Schneider.

program

The station offered the latest news and stories from the Cologne region. The program initially consisted of several broadcast formats, each of which was usually produced live and then broadcast in a continuous loop:

  • Köln.tv NEWS (every full and half hour)
  • Köln.tv DAS MAGAZIN (every hour at minute 15)
  • Köln.tv DER TALK (every hour at minute 45)
  • Köln.tv DIE REPORTAGE (first broadcast on Sundays, 8 p.m.)
  • #kaffeeklash (interactive youth magazine, weekdays 5.30 p.m.)

After a restructuring of the program schedule in autumn 2015, the one-hour show Köln.tv - the day was produced live until the program was discontinued at 6 p.m. and then repeated.

  • Köln.tv - the day (every hour from 6 p.m.)

Range

Köln.tv reached 2.7 million households and could be received via cable television , the Internet and Telekom's “Entertain Package” . Although the program could be received digitally via cable, no program information was sent via DVB-C via EPG signal. The main goal was to increase reach in the digital channels. Despite the proximity to the print media, Köln.tv should develop programs independently as an independent unit.
