Küchen Aktuell GmbH, based in Braunschweig, is a German family business and currently operates 14 specialist kitchen stores. The family company employs around 1150 people. In addition to the 14 sales branches in the federal states of Lower Saxony, Hamburg , Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein, the company also has 9 logistics locations, some of which are connected to one branch.

Among other things, the specialist kitchen store has once again been named the test winner among the specialist kitchen stores by the German Institute for Service Quality GmbH & Co.KG in cooperation with the news channel n-tv.

The family company was founded in 1996 by Karl Schmidt and Claus Küpers with only six employees in Braunschweig. The opening in Braunschweig was followed by the opening of the branch in Hanover-Garbsen in 1997 and the opening of the kitchen specialist in Hanover-Isernhagen in 1998. In the following year, the first specialist store was opened in Hamburg. In 2001 the Halstenbek and Hildesheim sites went into operation . A year later, the next two kitchen specialty stores were opened in Mülheim-Kärlich and Lübeck, in 2003 in Buchholz id Nordheide. In 2004, Küchen Aktuell started building two-story specialist stores. The first location of the new generation of specialist stores was built in Halstenbek near Hamburg. In 2005, Krefeld opened the first branch in the west. After another year, Berlin was also opened up in 2006 with a branch in Berlin-Tempelhof . Just four years later (2010), Küchen Aktuell GmbH celebrated the opening of three further specialist kitchen stores in Wuppertal , Berlin-Spandau and Düsseldorf . With the new construction of the Düsseldorf location, they dared to try a more modern architectural style. Another location followed in Bornheim in 2014 and the new building in Hanover opened in 2017. In the course of this, the branches in Hanover-Garbsen and Hanover-Isernhagen were closed. Further locations in the south and east of Germany are being planned. The next branch in Hanau near Frankfurt / Main is expected to open in autumn 2020.

Küchen Aktuell GmbH has been training apprentices since 1999. The company offers vocational training as a retail clerk in the kitchen trade as well as the possibility of dual studies (Bachelor in Arts with vocational training) in cooperation with the Welfenakademie Braunschweig. In addition, training to become a specialist in furniture, kitchen and relocation services is offered.

The qualification concept of Küchen Aktuell GmbH is rounded off by the set up support group for ambitious trainees from the second year of training and a further training course to become a commercial specialist for outstanding trainee graduates after one year of professional experience. With the renovation and reopening of the Braunschweig site in 2012, an additional training center with an integrated apartment complex was built. Over 140 young professionals are currently being promoted nationwide.
