Kühny gold leaf factory

The C. Kühny gold leaf factory is a German metal processing - companies based in Neusäß in the Swabian district of Augsburg , which particularly in the production of gold leaf has specialized. The family company , which was founded in Augsburg in 1840 and has been based there for many years, is now (2017) in the sixth and seventh generation of the founding family.

history

The company was founded at the end of 1840 by the gold beater Carl Friedrich Kühny († 1889), the son of the Augsburg gold beater Jakob Friedrich Kühny. The company was initially located on the parents' property on Hunoldsgraben in Augsburg's old town, which was acquired in 1826 . In 1863, the company moved to new premises at Hermanstraße 31 in the Augsburg train station district , where the C. Kühny gold leaf factory developed, according to its own statements, "within a short time into the industry leader for gold leaf production". In 2006 the company headquarters was relocated to Sonnwendstrasse 8a in Neusäß.

The purpose of the company is the production of gold leaf and other metal leaf as well as the sale of gold leaf and gilding items . Mainly 12-24 carat gold leaf is produced  for restoration and stone carving work . In addition, the company's delivery range, some of which comes from its own production, includes: roll gold, silver leaf , roll silver , striking metal and composite gold, as well as mixtion , poliment and polishing stones for gilding ( agates ) in many shapes, as well as all the accessories required for gilding.

The manufacturing processes are not fully automated throughout , but are partly carried out according to traditional manual processes used by gold miners.
