The K3 League Basic was the second division of the K3 League . In 2019 it was a semi-professional football league. At the end of 2019 it was dissolved in favor of the new K4 League .

history

prehistory

The league was founded in 2017. Previously, the games were played in two groups in the K3 League , with the best teams playing in the championship round in a knockout game for the finals. In the final, the master was determined. Over the years, the demand for a two-tier system has grown louder. Since some teams signed former professional and semi-professional players over time, some teams were qualitatively better positioned than other K3 League members. Therefore, it was decided to introduce a two-league system for the 2017 season. In the 2016 season, it was determined who was allowed to play in the K3 League Advance and who had to be relegated to the K3 League Basic. A total of 8 teams were relegated.

From 2017 to 2019

For the 2017 season , Busan FC and Pyeongtaek Citizen FC joined the K3 League and thus took part in the newly founded league. However, before the start of the season, Yeonggwang FC announced that they would be taking their first team out of the K3 League Basic this season and would like to play again in the K3 League Basic for the next 2018 season. For the 2018 season , Yeoju Sejong FC and Chungju Citizen FC will also join the K3 League.

Since the 2018 season, a 6-point plan has been drawn up and implemented as part of the league conversion from amateur to semi-professional football. Since 2018, basic teams have to equip at least 1 player with a fixed annual salary. At the beginning of 2019, Ulsan Citizen FC, a new club joined the K3 League Basic. In 2019, the Basic was held for the first time as a semi-professional league. At the end of 2019, the league was dissolved in favor of the new K4 League .
