Kai Erik Herlovsen

Kai Erik Herlovsen (born September 25, 1959 in Fredrikstad ) is a former Norwegian football player .

Life

Herlovsen first played for Fredrikstad FK from 1980 to 1982 . He then moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga at the age of 22 , where he was under contract until 1990. During this time, the Norwegian, who was used as a central defender or in defensive midfield, completed 118 games. He scored three goals. One of his career highlights was reaching the final in the 1984 DFB Cup . Here Gladbach was only defeated by Bayern Munich on penalties (7: 8); Herlovsen converted Gladbach's first penalty kick to 2-2. The Norwegian played 15 UEFA Cup games for Mönchengladbach . He ended his career as an active player in his hometown of Fredrikstad.

Herlovsen made his debut in the Norwegian national team on April 28, 1982 against Finland . By 1988 he played 34 games for his country, including the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . The Scandinavian country did not qualify for a World Cup or European Championship finals during this period.

Since 2001 Herlovsen has worked as a football coach for various clubs, including Sarpsborg 08 Fotballforening . Herlovsen is the father of the Norwegian national soccer player Isabell Herlovsen .
