Kama Sutra Rides Again is a 1972 British animated short film directed by Bob Godfrey .

action

The elderly couple Stanley and Ethel are sitting naked on a couch. Ethel knits and Stanley explains with a pipe in mouth that they both love variety. Although they have unusual pets with a crocodile and an elephant, Ethel takes driving lessons, Stanley paints in oil and both like to vacation in their house in the Gobi desert , they only find real variety in love play. Here both become highly experimental and are not satisfied with manuals like Sex For Old Age Pensioners or Love Variations . They have tried all the positions explained there and Stanley notes that with a little imagination you can find new positions that can surprise you.

Ethel and he demonstrate some of the positions: In the position he baptized La brouette (The Wheelbarrow), the man pulls or pushes the woman like a wheelbarrow, while La bicyclette is performed on a bicycle and can cause irritation in public. Other position descriptions follow, such as Tarzan and Les escalatores (the escalators). Stanley often presents the difficulties of certain positions, for example it is difficult to stand upright in pairs in a hammock or to try to unite on roller skates at Les patineuses , not to mention trying on ice skates. In addition to other positions that include water skiing and skydiving, Stanley comes to more modern variants that require machines. The positions include the typewriter , in which the man acts as a type of lever and the woman as a leaf. Stanley now presents her most difficult position, The stuntsman , which is performed in the circus hanging from two trapezoids with a precisely coordinated jump of both partners "without a net or contraception". Since the couple have not yet perfected this position, Ethel falls during the performance and is ultimately in the hospital in cast. When Stanley notices that he can use trains to move Ethel's cast legs, he has another position idea, but Ethel furiously chases him away.

production

Along with Henry 9 'til 5 , Dream Doll , Instant Sex and Bio-Woman, Kama Sutra Rides Again is one of Godfrey's films that satirically deal with the sex life of the British. “The juxtaposition of the dispassionate, inhibited British and unusual, extreme sexual practices reveals the real inhibition and hypocrisy at the heart of British culture,” so the criticism. The films are a surreal satire on the social identity of the common man and the reticence of British men.

Kama Sutra Rides Again was released in 1972 as a supporting film for A Clockwork Orange . The film was initially approved for adults only by the British Board of Film Censors, but was later approved for AA (14 and over). In the film, the character "Henry" from Godfrey's Henry 9 'til 5 has a cameo .
