Karaman Yavuz

Karaman Yavuz (* 1958 in Elazığ , Turkey ) is a German film director and writer based in Hamburg.

Yavuz, who is of Turkish-Kurdish descent, has lived in Germany since he was 21 years old. In Hamburg he studied sociology, political science, visual communication and film. In addition to his studies, he organized cultural events and undertook media-educational video projects with a group.

His long documentary Diarbakir - I'm Ashamed of Being a Lawyer (1994) premiered at the 1995 "Days of Turkish Film" in Munich and was awarded the title "Valuable" by the FBW .

There were other documentary works.

Karaman Yavuz is currently working as a journalist for NDR television .
