Karel Masopust

Karel Masopust (born October 4, 1942 in Prague ; † May 25, 2019 ) was a Czechoslovak ice hockey player who for many years in the 1st division of Czechoslovakia for Sparta Prague and Motor České Budějovice (1970–1974) on the position of defender has played.

Career

Karel Masopust started his career at TJ Motorlet Prague before playing for Dukla Jihlava while serving in the army . After finishing his service, he played for Sparta Prague for many years before he later moved to České Budějovice and ended his career with Ingstav Brno after the 1975/76 season. In a total of 15 seasons in the first division, the top division of Czechoslovakia, he scored 114 goals in 474 games.

The greatest success of his career was participation in the 1968 Winter Olympics , where he won the silver medal with the Czechoslovak national team . He scored three goals in twelve international matches.

Since 1993 Masopust worked as a scout for the San Jose Sharks from the National Hockey League .
