Karen Percy (born October 10, 1966 in Banff , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ski racer .

biography

The then almost 20-year-old Percy achieved her first podium in the Downhill from Sunshine (CAN), 1986 with starting number 30.

At the Olympic Games in Calgary in 1988 she won bronze in the downhill (behind Marina Kiehl and Brigitte Oertli ) and in the Super-G (behind Sigrid Wolf and Michela Figini ) in her closer home . In fourth place, she narrowly missed the medal ranks in the Alpine Combined . At the 1989 World Ski Championships in Vail , she was runner-up in the downhill run behind Maria Walliser .

She never achieved a World Cup victory. As the best results she achieved four 2nd places:

  • Departure from Zinal (SUI), 1988
  • Super-G from Lake Louise (CAN), 1989
  • Combination from Mellau (AUT), 1989
  • Combination of Grindelwald (SUI), 1989

Although she was a specialist in the fast disciplines, she also achieved positions in the top 10 in giant slalom and slalom . She announced her retirement from active ski racing in 1990. In the course of her career she was Canadian champion seven times (downhill 1986, Super-G 1985-1988, giant slalom 1988 and 1989).
