Based on the computer game of the same name, the series deals with the clone special forces, their missions and their actions with the outside world. The culture of the Mandalorians plays a major role as a culture of mercenaries that was passed on to the clone soldiers bred for war use through their instructors. As the series progresses, the clones increasingly realize that they are de facto fighting as slaves for the Republic and the Jedi Order and are looking for a way to stop their accelerated aging and lead a normal life. Unlike in the films and other books, a gray-shaded picture of the Clone Wars is drawn.
The series ended after the official Star Wars canon for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series was changed to require Mandalorians to be traditional pacifists rather than professional soldiers. This led to numerous conflicts of continuity with the picture drawn by Traviss and, in collaboration with financial disputes, led to the series being prematurely canceled.
