Karin Ivancsics

Karin Ivancsics (born March 30, 1962 in Sankt Michael im Burgenland ) is an Austrian writer.

Life

Karin Ivancsics grew up in Deutsch Jahrndorf . She has lived in Vienna since graduating from high school in Neusiedl am See in 1980 . Ivancsics studied German and Romance studies at the University of Vienna and completed the course in advertising and sales at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . From 1986 to 1989 she was an editor at Wiener Frauenverlag and worked for cultural institutions, book and magazine publishers. She has been working as a freelance writer since 1994. Ivancsics writes prose and plays, she is a member of the interest group of Austrian authors , the Graz authors' meeting , the literature group Podium and a member of the executive committee of the Erich Fried Society . She has received several grants and awards, including the residency grant from the Berlin Senate at the Berlin Literary Colloquium , the Austrian State Grant and the Hertha Kräftner Prize together with Andreas Okopenko .
