Karl-Wolfgang Tröger (born September 14, 1932 in Auerbach / Vogtl. ) Is a German Protestant theologian and religious scholar .

Karl-Wolfgang Tröger learned the trade of bookseller . He then studied Slavic Studies , Protestant Theology and Religious Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin , where he was active in teaching and research at the Theological Faculty from 1964. In 1967 he was awarded the title of Dr. with his work The Relationship between Belief in the Mysteries and Gnosis. theol. PhD . In 1978 he received his PhD B with the work The Passion of Jesus Christ in Gnosis according to the writings of Nag Hammadi. In 1987 he was appointed professor , from 1992 he held the chair for religious and missiological studies and ecumenics . His scientific work focuses on late antiquity , early Christianity , Islam and Buddhism . In 1996 he retired .

Karl-Wolfgang Tröger lives in Bautzen .
