Karl August Neuhausen
Karl August Neuhausen (born December 14, 1939 in Cologne ; † October 5, 2017 in Siegburg ) was a German classical philologist .
Life
Karl August Neuhausen studied classical philology at the University of Bonn from 1959 to 1964 . After graduating in 1964, he was in 1965 when Wolfgang Schmid with a Latin written dissertation Dr. phil. PhD . He then worked as a lecturer at the University of Bonn. In 1970 he was appointed Academic Senior Councilor. In 2005 he retired.
Neuhausen dealt with the Latin literature of antiquity, the Middle Ages and modern times. His best-known work is a commentary on Cicero's dialogue Laelius de amicitia . Neuhausen has been the editor of the Neo-Latin Yearbook and the Noctes Neolatinae since 1999 . Neo-Latin Texts and Studies . In the tradition of his academic teacher Schmid, he advocated Latin as a living language.
