Karl Friedrich Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg (* 13. July 1668 in Bernburg (Saale) , † 22. April 1721 in Ballenstedt ) from the family of Askanier was from 1718 until his death reigning Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg .

Life

Karl Friedrich was the eldest son of Prince Victor Amadeus von Anhalt-Bernburg and his wife Countess Palatine Elisabeth von Zweibrücken. His first marriage was to his cousin Sofie Albertine (* October 2, 1672; † June 12, 1708), the daughter of Georg Friedrich Graf zu Solms-Sonnenwalde and Princess Anna Sofie von Anhalt-Bernburg , sister of Prince Victor Amadeus from Anhalt-Bernburg .

After her death he married 1715 in morganatic marriage the maid Wilhelmine Charlotte Nüssler who had already borne him a son in 1712. After giving birth to another boy in 1717, she was made Countess of Ballenstedt in 1719 . The two sons who were not entitled to succeed were legitimized and were given the title Count von Bährnfeld .
