Karl Georg Zinn

Karl Georg Zinn (born September 22, 1939 in Kassel ) is a German economist .

Life

Zinn is the son of the former Hessian Prime Minister Georg-August Zinn . He studied economics and social sciences in Frankfurt am Main, Freiburg and Mainz.

He received his doctorate in 1965. In 1969 he completed his habilitation at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. From 1970 to 2004, Zinn was Professor of Economics at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen , specializing in "Foreign Trade and the History of Political Economy ".

Tin is known for its decidedly Keynesian position; and Marxist approaches are based on its analysis. In particular, Zinn classifies so-called neoliberalism as dangerous for the development of German society. He regularly publishes articles in the journal Socialism . Alongside Frank Crüsemann , Ulrich Duchrow , Heino Falcke , Christian Felber , Kuno Füssel , Detlef Hensche , Siegfried Katterle, Arne Manzeschke, Silke Niemeyer, Franz Segbers and Ton Veerkamp, ​​he is the first to sign the appeal Peace with Capital? A call against the adjustment of the Evangelical Church to the power of the economy.

Zinn is a member of the advisory board of the civil rights organization Humanist Union and an official supporter of the demonstration Freedom Instead of Fear .
