Life

After studying and doing his doctorate, Tücking was a teacher at the Laurentianum grammar school in Arnsberg from 1865 to 1873 . He was an active member of the historical association in Arnsberg, and has written numerous local and regional historical articles, including for the newspapers on the closer customer of Westphalia. After the death of Johann Suibert Seibertz in 1871 he took over the editorial office.

After his time in Arnsberg, Tücking came to Neuss, where he was director of the Quirinus-Gymnasium Neuss from 1873 to 1896 . In Neuss he made a special contribution to local historical research and presented relevant works on the city's history, including a history of the church institutions in the city of Neuss (1890) and a description of the city's history (1891). Tücking edited the documents and files from the archive of the Poor Clares and presented the volume with regesta in 1896. The volume contains only a few documents in full. After the death of Clemens Sels in 1893, Tücking became chairman of the “Society for Classical Antiquities and History” in Neuss.

He also wrote a translation of Livius (Book 21) for school use.

Karl Tücking's estate is in the Neuss city archive (signature D.04.T.01).
