Karlheinz " Charly " Meininger (born February 1, 1953 in Gottsdorf ) is a former German soccer player .

career

From 1972, the former SC Zwiesel striker played for TSV 1860 Munich in the Regionalliga Süd - the second highest division at the time. In the last two seasons of the old league system (Bundesliga and including the five regional leagues south, southwest, west, north and Berlin) the “lions” came third. Under the coaches Hans Tilkowski , Elek Schwartz and Rudi Gutendorf , the young player completed 24 regional league games and scored five goals. For the 1974/1975 season he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg , which competed in the newly founded second division and where his former “Lion” coach Tilkowski was temporarily active. In the second "Club" year, 1975/76, it was enough for the men around goalkeeper Franz Schwarzwälder , Norbert Eder , Dieter Nüssing and Hans Walitza to win the runner-up. Meininger had scored twelve goals in 31 appearances alongside striker Walitza. In the first playoff against North Vice Borussia Dortmund on June 17, 1976, he was substituted on in the second half. Dortmund prevailed against Nuremberg and rose to the Bundesliga. In 1976 Meininger switched to first class when he signed a contract with Werder Bremen . Coach Tilkowski had given the striker to the Weser. In his first year in Bremen, 1976/77, the striker completed 28 league games and scored ten goals alongside Dieter Burdenski , Horst-Dieter Höttges , Franz Hiller and Werner Görts . But even there it only lasted two years before he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen in 1978 and thus back to the second division, this time to the Northern Division.

In his second year with RWE, 1979/80, the team of coach Rolf Schafstall reached the runner-up in the north relay. Meininger had scored 14 goals in 35 appearances alongside Frank Mill and Willi Lippens . The team from Bergeborbeck competed in June 1980 against the southern vice Karlsruher SC in two playoffs for the third promoted player in the Bundesliga. In the Karlsruhe Wildpark Stadium , Essen went down with 1: 5 goals. In the second leg, Meininger scored the 1-0 lead in the first minute, but KSC moved into the Bundesliga with the 3-1 defeat in Essen. In 1982 Meininger moved as an amateur player to SV Atlas Delmenhorst . Meininger was a player, assistant coach and, for the last few years, manager of this successful league club, for which he played a total of 35 games (10 goals) in the third-highest class. In 1994 "Charly" Meininger, as he was called, ended his football career.
