The Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft AG (KVG) is a subsidiary of the Kasseler Verkehrs- and supply GmbH . The head office of the transport company is in Kassel . The company was founded in 1897. In 2015, 45 million people took advantage of the company's services.

The KVG operates seven tram lines in the Kassel city area as well as 19 lines in the city area and 22 lines in the immediate vicinity of the city of Kassel.

Tram and RegioTram

KVG trams and buses

The KVG has a 50 percent share in Regionalbahn Kassel GmbH (RBK) . The RBK operates the RegioTram vehicles (RT) , which drive from the Deutsche Bahn rail network through a tunnel in Kassel Hauptbahnhof station directly into the KVG tram network.

In addition to the KVG, the RBK , KNE , Kurhessenbahn , Cantus Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH , HLB and Deutsche Bahn AG operate routes in and around Kassel.

Bus transport

The bus lines 10, 14, 16 and 17 run through the city center and have a connection to the tram at Scheidemannplatz, Königsplatz and Am Stern. These bus routes serve the parts of the city that are not served by trams, mainly Harleshausen and Waldau.

Bus routes 11 to 13, 21, 22 and 25 to 29 are district buses or tangential lines that do not touch the city center.

Radial lines sorted by municipality:

Car acquisitions from 1987 to 1991

The last high-floor buses were delivered to the KVG between 1987 and 1991. On the one hand, there were a total of 31 articulated buses from the manufacturer Mercedes-Benz (type Mercedes-Benz O 405 G ) and eight solo buses of the type O 405 . The articulated cars were given the road numbers 155-185, the solo vehicles were classified as 085-092. The first buses, mainly those from the earlier delivery years, were taken out of service at the turn of the millennium, the younger vehicles were still in use at KVG until the mid-2000s.

Car procurement since 1994

The first low-floor vehicles were purchased between 1994 and 1996. This involved a total of 30 Neoplan N 4016 , which were in use until 2007.

The first low-floor articulated buses were again ordered from Neoplan ( type N 4021 ) and delivered in 1997 and 1998. Another 16 Neoplan articulated buses were purchased in 1999 and 2000, this time the successor type N 4421 Centroliner . In 2004 the fleet was supplemented by three Solaris Urbino 18s .

Since some of the existing vehicles were getting on in years, new vehicle purchases were again made on a larger scale from 2006 onwards. Initially, KVG acquired 30 Solaris Urbino 12 solo buses in 2006 to replace the Neoplan N 4016 built in the mid-1990s. New articulated trains followed a year, specifically six MAN Lions' City Gs and 20 Solaris Urbino 18. The latter were supplemented by four more vehicles of the same type in 2009. In return, all of the Neoplan N 4021, some of the Neoplan N 4421 Centroliner and the last Mercedes-Benz O 405 G , which were still delivered in high-floor construction, were removed from the inventory.

In March 2014, KVG acquired two Mercedes-Benz O 530 Citaro G Facelifts from Börner-Reisen in Baunatal . Almost a year later, in January 2015, three new Solaris Urbino 18s were purchased, for the first time in a four-door version.

The latter was purchased on a larger scale in 2017. The decision was again made for the Polish manufacturer Solaris, which delivered 13 New Urbino 12 with three doors and ten New Urbino 18 with four doors in March 2017. This enabled the remaining Neoplan articulated trains from 2000, the older Solaris Urbino 18 from 2004 and a small part of the Urbino 12 from 2006 to be retired.
