Katarzyna Kiedrzynek (born March 19, 1991 in Lublin ) is a Polish soccer goalkeeper .

Career

society

As a teenager, Katarzyna Kiedrzynek had stood next to each other in the handball goal and played soccer, the latter as a striker , before standing between the posts in an emergency at her club. It was only after the activities in two sports could no longer be agreed in terms of time that she decided to play football. From 2010 to summer 2013 she played for Górnik Łęczna in the Polish Ekstraliga ; During this time, Kiedrzynek also became a national player (see below) . For the 2013/14 season she moved to the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain . His coach Farid Benstiti became aware of the goalkeeper during his time as the Russian national coach on the occasion of an international match against Poland. Their debut in the league took place at the beginning of the second half of the season in December 2013 on the occasion of a 9-0 win at bottom AS Muret . With Paris, she finished in 2014 - at the time only in third place in the hierarchy of goal women - and in 2015, behind Olympique Lyon, second place in Division 1 Féminine . In May 2014 she was in the starting line-up, losing 2-0 in the French Cup final to Lyon. However, she only became the undisputed number one at PSG in her second season after she had prevailed against Karima Benameur and the newly signed Ann-Katrin Berger . In the 2014/15 season , Kiedrzynek was in goal for the Parisians in all nine Champions League games - including the final, which was lost 2-1 to 1. FFC Frankfurt .

Benstiti saw her qualities above all in the fact that the tall player is ready to work on herself all the time, and also praised her “air superiority” in the penalty area and her foot handling of the ball. Even among Benstiti's successors Patrice Lair and Olivier Echouafni , Kiedrzynek remained the first choice, even though she had a strong new competitor in Christiane Endler since 2017. When Paris won the national cup in 2018 , the Polish woman was not in the final and had not played a single game in the previous rounds. In the 2019/20 season , the coach usually preferred Endler for point games. In summer 2020 Katarzyna Kiedrzynek joined VfL Wolfsburg , where her contract has a term of three years.

National team

Kiedrzynek has been part of the Polish national team since 2011 , but has not yet qualified for any World or European Championship finals. In 2011 (0: 2) and 2013 (0: 6) against her “second sporting home” France , she already guarded the Polish goal in two friendly matches, whereby she was substituted prematurely in 2013 when the score was 0: 4.
